Ing. Jabesh Amissah-Arthur is the Managing Partner and Co-founder of Arthur Energy Advisors (AEA), an energy consulting firm based in Accra-Ghana and serving the West African Sub-region.

Jabesh holds a BSc in mechanical engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University, Massachusetts, USA. He is a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineers.

Starting his professional career in 1979, Jabesh worked with the Volta River Authority (VRA), at the time Ghana’s first power generation and transmission company. He worked as an Operations and Maintenance Engineer earlier on and then served in several senior positions; as Director of Management Information Systems, Director of Engineering, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Engineering and Operations).

By 2004, Jabesh had entered into private consultancy practice as the first full-time Partner of Arthur Energy Advisors; putting his skills and experience at the service of the Sub-region. He committed to leading the provision of indigenous professional insights and perspectives to the energy space, a service he successfully continues to provide.

Ing Amissah-Arthur took up a full-time assignment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Bui Power Authority in 2009. His responsibility was to oversee the execution of the US$700million, 400MW hydroelectric project as well as put in place systems and structures for the smooth administration of the Authority as well as commence operations of the Power Plant. The construction and initial operation of the project was successfully completed in December 2016. He then returned to private consultancy practice in 2017.

Jabesh’s areas of expertise cover power plant operations, utility management, strategic planning and policy analysis, project definition, appraisal and development, tender adjudication and bid evaluation, contract administration and project management, advanced computer skills in operational modelling and forecasting.

Jabesh is a negotiations expert. He has taught corporate, executive and graduate level negotiations. He has also provided technical backroom support as well as led negotiation teams on major national and institutional level undertakings, a skill he continues to offer to AEA’s clients.
